PARK RIDGE, N.J., May 18, 2009 - Sony is announcing the commercial availability of its model UP-DR80MD medical-grade digital printer, delivering fast and cost-effective performance for a range of advanced surgical and ultrasound applications.
Compatible with most popular image capture, endoscopic camera and digital ultrasound systems, the new printer delivers crisp 301 dpi, continuous tone output and easily combines images and text on letter-size media for comprehensive medical reporting.
Designed for convenient medical cart integration, the UP-DR80MD printer is the smallest full-page, dye-sublimation printer on the market, measuring 12.5 inches (W) x 16.75 inches (D) x 8.13 inches (H). It can also service multiple users from a fixed location with optional network support.
“With the growing popularity of minimally invasive surgery, endoscopic imaging is on the rise,” said Brian Zimmer, manager of surgery marketing for Sony. “The UP-DR80MD provides an excellent alternative to an inkjet printer for this and other related surgical and ultrasound applications.”
The UP-DR80MD printer provides durable, water-resistant (or smudge-free) prints in less than 72 seconds (not including start-up time and initialization), catering to the needs of demanding medical environments. The unit’s easy-to-use color adjustment feature provides a highly accurate on-screen color preview, enabling precise output. The UP-DR80MD is USB 2.0 compatible and supports Windows® 2000, XP and Vista operating systems.
“Our advanced dye sublimation technology delivers extremely high-quality photorealistic images,” Zimmer added.
“For specialized medical printing, the UP-DR80MD is a great alternative to inkjet printing, offering better reliability and image quality as well as lover overall cost of ownership.”
