PET/CT can predict therapy response in some lymphomas

PET/CT can predict therapy response in some lymphomas -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Johns Hopkins University study added to the growing base of evidence showing that quantitative PET/CT can predict the response to treatment in patients with bone metastases from lymphomas. Dr. Behnaz Goudarzi and colleagues retrospectively reviewed PET/CT reports from 1100 patients with lymphoma. They identified a subset of 28 patients with aggressive lymphoma and bone lesions with high FDG uptake and compared standardized uptake values and Hounsfield unit values for these lesions before and after therapy. Evidence of treatment response came in the form of significant decrease in FDG uptake and increase in tumor density. They presented their findings at the 2007 RSNA meeting .
