How Arterys is Streamlining Imaging Practices with New AI Platform

This year’s annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting was a grand showcase of artificial intelligence ventures. Take for example the Arterys’s latest platform Arterys MICA, a web based medical imaging system powered by AI.

MICA facilitates workflows for a diverse set of imaging devices, including MRI and CT. The scalable GPU architecture allows clinicians to “interact with and edit their output in real time.” Like other deep learning systems, the platform adopts these editing patterns and uses them to improve its algorithms.

Healthcare data has grown more vulnerable to data breaches over the years. In 2016 alone, data breaches could have cost the healthcare industry $62 billion. Arterys responds to the heightened need of hospital network security by implementing Arterys PHI Service into the MICA platform. The system makes it so patient data can only be accessed within the hospital network or with a login credentials. According to a press release, Arterys PHI Service is already being used at top hospitals and teaching institutions in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

Arterys is a 6-year-old cloud-based AI company that is dedicated to streamlining radiologist workloads and promoting rates of accuracy in medical imaging practices. "We are excited to see how the Arterys MICA platform realizes our vision of democratizing high quality care via data driven medicine and assisting radiologists across a wide variety of workflows," said CEO and Co-Founder Fabien Beckers. "The platform and these products get us one step closer to our vision of empowering physicians with AI to convert data into insights, so they can define the optimal path for each of their patients."
