ACR Whitepaper on Teleradiology Practice Published Online in JACR

Reston, Va. (May 20, 2013) – The ACR Whitepaper on Teleradiology Practice, published online May 20 in the Journal of the American College of Radiology (JACR), proposes comprehensive best-practice guidelines for the practice of teleradiology, with recommendations offered regarding future ACR actions to ensure quality patient care.

“Teleradiology is now embedded in the workflow of many radiology practices throughout the United States, driven largely by an expanding corporate model of services. This brings opportunities and challenges to providers and recipients of these services and heightens the need for teleradiology best-practice guidelines. The ACR Teleradiology Task Force created this white paper to update prior ACR communication on teleradiology and discuss the current and possible future state of teleradiology. The recommendations and action items offered in the paper are vital to ensuring that patients remain at the core of the care that radiologists provide as technology and healthcare delivery systems advance,” said Ezequiel Silva III, MD, chair of the American College of Radiology Task Force on Teleradiology Practice.
