Reston, Va. (April 16, 2013) — The American College of Radiology (ACR) has been awarded Accreditation with Commendation for six years as a provider of continuing medical education (CME) for physicians by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
Accreditation with Commendation is awarded to providers that demonstrate compliance in each of the ACCME’s 22 accreditation criteria. This honorable designation is achieved by approximately 21 percent of ACCME-accredited providers.
“This achievement is a testament to the medical community that the ACR is dedicated to providing radiologists with valuable CME opportunities that promote change and quality improvement. ACR staff and the ACR Commission on Education have done exemplary work. We are extremely proud of this achievement,” said Cheri L. Canon, M.D., FACR, chair of the ACR Commission on Education.
ACCME accreditation is a voluntary, self-regulatory system that assures the public and the medical community that accredited CME is a strategic partner in health care quality and safety initiatives, providing physicians with relevant, effective education that meets their learning and practice needs. The ACR had previously received four year accreditation from ACCME in 2009.
