ACPE Becomes Affiliate of ACR’s Radiology Leadership Institute

The American College of Radiology (ACR) and American College of Physician Executives (ACPE) have announced an agreement making ACPE the newest affiliate organization of the ACR’s Radiology Leadership Institute (RLI). As a result of this affiliation, select ACPE courses will become a part of the RLI curriculum, allowing RLI participants to earn both RLI credits and ACPE credits. RLI participants can also use the credits they earn from other ACPE approved RLI courses toward an advanced business degree with one of ACPE’s four partner universities, or toward the Certified Physician Executive (CPE) Certificate.

ACPE is the nation’s largest health care organization for physician leaders. Its members include chief executive officers, chief medical officers, medical directors and clinicians. Since ACPE’s founding in 1975, the organization’s primary focus has been encouraging physicians to assume active roles in the leadership of health care organizations and helping physicians acquire leadership and management skills.

“The RLI is making a significant move toward increased leadership development and we appreciate their recognition of the quality of ACPE leadership training in this process,” said Peter Angood, MD, chief executive officer of ACPE. “We look forward to working together to help RLI participants develop their leadership abilities and we anticipate many subsequent successful contributions for health care as a result.”

“ACPE and the RLI offer numerous advantages to one another. With this new affiliation comes the opportunity to enhance the educational reach of RLI and ACPE to physician executives and beyond,” said Cynthia S. Sherry, MD, FACR, medical director of the RLI, chair of the ACR Commission on Leadership and Practice Development and former president of ACPE. “We are confident that the incorporation of ACPE coursework into the RLI curriculum will further enhance the development of radiology’s future leaders by providing RLI participants a pathway to earn an MBA or other graduate business degree.”

Those ACPE members who are interested in the RLI program should enroll today. Enrollees will receive exclusive RLI benefits, including the opportunity to be among the first to register for RLI programs. This includes the three-month, web-based Harvard Emerging Leaders Seminar and other upcoming RLI leadership webinars. In addition, enrollees will be invited to participate in the RLI Forum — a private leadership community where they can engage with the RLI board, radiology and business thought leaders, and their colleagues and peers to network, build skills and continue their leadership development.
