Due to generous corporate sponsorship, SIR is able to offer the Resident-in-training Scholarship for the 2011 Annual Scientific Meeting in Chicago, Ill. This program is open to all first- and second-year radiology residents within the United States and is an opportunity to learn about interventional radiology at an early stage in their medical careers. The scholarship will provide complimentary registration, reimbursement for travel expenses to the meeting and complimentary lodging for two nights.
Selected residents will attend the 2011 meeting on Sunday, March 27, through Tuesday, March 29. They will take part in several scheduled educational and networking events and will be given the opportunity to register for other activities in which they are interested. Scheduled events will include an evening dinner symposium, where some of IR's most influential leaders will highlight emerging therapies and issues in the specialty, as well as workshops and educational sessions.
Applications will be accepted online beginning in August through Friday, Oct. 29. Residents may apply for the travel scholarship twice (during both their first and second years) but may only be a travel scholarship award recipient once.
The application process requires interested individuals to fill out an online application form, upload a CV and supply a no more than 500-word answer to the short essay question:
Once the online application form is completed, SIR will send a link for an applicant to send to a current SIR member, who must submit an online recommendation form for an applicant's application to be considered complete.
Questions? Contact Melek Avsar, SIR education assistant, via email at MAvsar@SIRweb.org or by phone at (703) 691-1805.
Thank you to everyone who applies for the 2011 Resident-in-training Scholarship. Applicants will be notified of their status at the end of November.
