MIMVista for the iPhone - A formidable Osirix Competitor!

Has anyone downloaded MIMVista? It looks like a formidable competitor and complement to Osirix for radiologists using the iPhone. Here is some more information from MIMVista's website. "The Mobile MIM iPhone Application is a new multi-modality imaging application for the Apple® iPhoneTM and iPod® touch. This innovative software allows a referring physician or patient to view medical images remotely, without being tied to an imaging workstation. The Mobile MIM iPhone Application provides multi-planar reconstruction of data sets from modalities including CT, PET, MRI and SPECT, as well as multi-modality image fusion. Using the multi-touch interface, users can change image sets and planes; adjust zoom, fusion blending, and window/level. Patient privacy is assured because all communications are transmitted over a secure connection that uses password locks, tamper prevention, and data encryption. The initial application includes sample images. Individual patient data can be downloaded to an iPhone or iPod touch from a MIM Workstation or MIM Storage Server. It is ideal for image review by referring physicians but is not intended for diagnostic purposes. A fully featured MIM Pro for the iPhone, for physician and radiology use, will be available in the near future. The Mobile MIM for the iPhone application is free on the iPhone App Store, under the category, Healthcare & Fitness. “The MIM application for the iPhone is the essence of cool for a radiologist who thrives on image display. The software is fast and intuitive. I think referring physicians will be to be able to seamlessly review a patient’s images while consulting over the phone. Patients will be even more impressed.” Peter Faulhaber, M.D., Director, Clinical PET University Hospitals, Case Medical Center See the presentation of MIMvista's CTO, Mark Cain, at the 48 minute mark on Apple's WWDC 2008 video. Is this a 2D or 3D viewer? Being able to rotate a volume rendered image in three dimensions would be nice. If this seamlessly integrates with the primary 3D system within the hospital, it would be very valuable. Otherwise, it'll be just another "island of information."
