Dear Michele we usually use dilute Meglumin Compound and give at least 800 cc for the patient during 8 hours before the exam, the last mouthful being on the CT table just before the exam. The matter is our Barium Powder is home made (Iran) and i don't think it would be homogeneous to have nice pictures such as we get with the hydrosoluble contrat agents. Anyhow i'll recommend technicians to try it with barium as well. Thank you for your advise.

Hi saeed ! Did you ever try to use low concentration contrast agent for small bowel CT ? We usually dilute them or use low concentration compounds to achieve optimal attenuation gardient between the wall and the lumen for distal small bowel. For the imaging of stomach, duodenum and proximal jejunum we prefer water. What do you think about it ? I have uploaded a poster on small bowel MRI and CT in the Virtual Education Exhibit group.
