Connecting Radiology | Enabling collaboration and professional development

ARRS is happy to announce that Commander Ronald J. Boucher, MD, of the U.S. Navy and Chairman of Radiology at the Naval Medical Center San Diego will be contributing regularly to the ARRS Facebook Fan Page as he serves as Radiology Department Head in a medical “tent” hospital in Afghanistan.

Dr. Boucher, along with Dr. Steve Ferrara, will be presenting an instructional course at the ARRS Annual Meeting in San Diego on Thursday, May 6. They will discuss the role of radiology in war, disaster relief (as is currently being performed in Haiti), and humanitarian relief environments. In addition to serving in Afghanistan in 2009, Dr. Ferrara was the radiologist during the 2005 Asian tsunami relief effort doing both diagnostic and interventional radiology aboard the USNS Mercy for nearly six months.

We hope that you will enjoy and appreciate following Dr. Boucher as he cares for patients and illustrates the unique role of a radiologist and naval officer in Afghanistan.
