Event Description

Unembalmed Human Cadaver Workshop Description

Working in collaboration with the AEC Learning Center, Gulfcoast Ultrasound designed this workshop to complement participation in this course. Participants will have an opportunity to perform ultrasound-guided injection techniques on unembalmed human cadaver specimens. The optional session will develop skills, enhance confidence, and minimize barriers to integrate these techniques into clinical practice. Registration is limited to individuals who are registered for this course.

At the completion of this program, the participant should be able to:
  1. Discuss the fundamentals of U/S physics & instrumentation.
  2. Explain the advantages of using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques.
  3. Identify the topographic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy.
  4. Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper extremities anesthesia using interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary and forearm nerve blocks on live models.
  5. Demonstrate imaging techniques for performing ultrasound-guided lower extremity anesthesia using femoral, popliteal and ankle nerve blocks on live models.
  6. List the indications and applications for performing ultrasound-guided central venous catheter placement and apply skills using inanimate phantoms.
  7. Perform ultrasound-guided injection techniques on human cadaver specimens.
  8. Increase the participants’ knowledge to better perform ultrasoundguided regional anesthesia procedures.
