SUMMARY:Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anesthesia Includes Human Cadaver W
orkshop for Injection and Aspiration Techniques! -- Aug. 2011
DESCRIPTION:Unembalmed Human Cadaver Workshop Description\nWorking in
collaboration with the AEC Learning Center, Gulfcoast Ultrasound desig
ned this workshop to complement participation in this course. Particip
ants will have an opportunity to perform ultrasound-guided injection t
echniques on unembalmed human cadaver specimens. The optional session
will develop skills, enhance confidence, and minimize barriers to inte
grate these techniques into clinical practice. Registration is limited
to individuals who are registered for this course.\nAt the completion
of this program, the participant should be able to:\nDiscuss the fund
amentals of U/S physics & instrumentation.\nExplain the advantages of
using ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques.\nIdentify the topograp
hic and cross-sectional brachial plexus anatomy.\nDemonstrate imaging
techniques for performing ultrasound-guided upper extremities anesthes
ia using interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary and
forearm nerve blocks on live models.\nDemonstrate imaging techniques f
or performing ultrasound-guided lower extremity anesthesia using femor
al, popliteal and ankle nerve blocks on live models.\nList the indicat
ions and applications for performing ultrasound-guided central venous
catheter placement and apply skills using inanimate phantoms.\nPerform
ultrasound-guided injection techniques on human cadaver specimens.\nI
ncrease the participants’ knowledge to better perform ultrasoundguid
ed regional anesthesia procedures.\n\nCourse Topics:\n\nImaging fundam
