MEETING DESCRIPTION:
This three-day course will provide essentials and an update of MRI evaluation of the musculoskeletal system including the joints, as well as muscle MRI, bone and soft tissue tumor assessment, and nerve entrapment syndromes. Practical information will be emphasized. Advances in musculoskeletal imaging will be taught including the capabilities of new equipment, coils and higher field imaging. Protocols and reporting will also be discussed in some lectures. Hot topics including ACL repair, postoperative shoulder, femoroacetabular impingement and cartilage imaging will provide new information that can be used in general and subspecialty practices.

This course is geared towards diagnostic radiologists, orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine physicians, and MRI technologists with some basic or intermediate knowledge of musculoskeletal MRI who want to increase their knowledge to a more advanced level.

At the completion of this course, the participants should be able to:
1. Use optimized protocols for imaging of the musculoskeletal system;
2. Understand the MRI anatomy of the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle;
3. Identify abnormalities of the joints, muscles and cartilage on MRI and their clinical significance;
4. Recognize common bone and soft tissue tumors with a pertinent differential diagnosis;
5. Recall findings associated with nerve entrapment syndromes;
6. Consider implementation of new developments in musculoskeletal MRI into their practice.
