Total Endovascular Series: Dialysis Access 1 Symposium at the Methodist Hospital System. Program Overview
End Stage Renal Disease requiring dialysis access is an extremely common problem, which is becoming increasingly more complex as patients live longer and exhaust conventional access modalities. KDOQI and Fistula
First have developed mandates and expectations that have altered the practice of dialysis access. Fifty percent of vascular surgery practice in the United States is based on dialysis access. It is estimated that dialysis access accounts for $1 billion of the total U.S. health care budget. Despite this, education in dialysis access has not kept up with the need of practitioners. As such, it is the goal of this conference to identify and provide up-to-date dialysis access information including furthering patient care by discussing evidence-based approaches to solving simple and complex issues.
