Event Description

The role of the Radiologic Technologist has evolved way beyond taking a cross table lateral of spine at C7-T1. Using digital modalities and the electronic medical record helps ED physicians deal efficiently with trauma management and provide the urgent care that their patients need to survive. This course will cover all modalities and advanced imaging technology used in the emergency room. You will explore the use of digital imaging, CT and ultrasound and the roles they each play in the hands of professionals such as yourselves in the critical environment of the emergency room where matters of life and death are dealt with everyday.

Course Topics
• Hospital classifications for trauma levels
• The Radiologic Technologist as part of the ED team
• Electronic Medical Records and the ED
• Digital modalities in the ED
• Trauma Imaging: What the physicians need to see and why
• Image quality analysis for digital modalities
• The danger of remote imaging of trauma patients (why patients can die in x-ray)
