Course Description

Thoracic Imaging 2011 is the Twenty-
Ninth Annual Meeting and Postgraduate
Course of the Society of Thoracic
Radiology.This 4-day course will feature
internationally recognized experts in
imaging of the lungs, heart, thoracic
vasculature, mediastinum, and pleura, and
will include the following:

Dedicated Symposia on the
following subjects:
• Interstitial lung disease
• Pulmonary vascular imaging
• Lung cancer update: Classification and
Staging
• Solitary pulmonary nodule evaluation
• Pulmonary MRI (Scanlon Symposium)
• Imaging of the airways
• Mediastinal disease
• Pulmonary infections
• Thoracic biopsy and tumor ablation
• Coronary and cardiac imaging (CT,MRI)
• Aortic disease
• Updates in technology and radiation
dose reduction

Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, the attendee will be able to:

• Describe a multifaceted approach to
the assessment of diffuse lung disease.
• Summarize the anatomic, pathologic,
and imaging features of thoracic disease
and its correlations.
• Comprehend the newWHO
classification of lung adenocarcinoma.
• Assess the current management of
subsolid pulmonary nodules.
• Summarize the role of imaging in the
assessment of the pulmonary arteries.
• Recognize concepts in the evaluation,
classification and treatment of
congenital lesions of the heart, lungs,
and airways.
• Discuss state-of-the-art MR imaging
and quantification of pulmonary
vascular and parenchymal disease.
• Critique current and emerging issues in
infectious diseases of the chest.
• Summarize the role of imaging in the
assessment of both ischemic and nonischemic
heart disease.
• Understand and apply technological
advances in computed tomography
(CT), magnetic resonance (MR)
imaging, and positron emission
tomography (PET) as they relate to
thoracic disease.
• Comprehend the current status of
interventional procedures of the chest,
including ablation of lung tumors.

Target Audience

The Target Audience includes
cardiothoracic radiologists, general
radiologists with an interest in
cardiothoracic imaging, pulmonologists,
cardiothoracic surgeons, residents,
fellows, and other health professionals
interested in the science and practice of
cardiothoracic imaging.

Credit Information

The Society ofThoracic Radiology is
accredited by theAccreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education to sponsor
continuing medical education for physicians.

The Society of Thoracic Radiology (STR)
designates this live activity for a
maximum of 32.75 AMA PRA Category 1
CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only
the credit commensurate with the extent
of their participation in the activity.

General Meeting Information

Registration Information
Registration will be located outside the
general session room (Calusa Ballroom)
at the hotel. Registration hours begin
Saturday, March 5 from 4:00-6:00 pm and
will be held during normal hours of the
meeting. Registration rates can be found
on the registration form in the brochure.
Early registration rate applies before
January 30, 2011. The registration fee
includes syllabus, continental breakfasts,
breaks, welcome reception and other
receptions. The welcome reception is for
all registrants and their guests.

Cancellation
A $75 administrative fee will be retained
if registration is cancelled prior to
February 18, 2011.Thereafter, no refunds
can be made. Cancellations will be
accepted in writing only, via fax or email.
