MEETING DESCRIPTION:
Thoracic Imaging 2010 is the Twenty-Eighth Annual Meeting and Postgraduate Course of the Society of Thoracic Radiology.This 4-day course will feature internationally recognized experts in imaging of the lungs, heart, thoracic vasculature, mediastinum, and pleura, and will include the following:
Dedicated Symposia on the following subjects:
• Coronary and cardiac imaging (CT, MRI)
• Aortic and pulmonary vascular imaging
• Diffuse infiltrative lung disease
• Imaging of the airways
• Solitary pulmonary nodule evaluation
• Lung cancer update: the revised staging system and its applications
• Update in thoracic imaging technology and radiation dose reduction
• Intensive care and postoperative imaging
• Pulmonary infections
Course Objectives
At the completion of the course, the attendee will be able to:
1. Summarize the role of imaging in the assessment of both ischemic and nonischemic
heart disease.
2. Describe a multifaceted approach to the assessment of diffuse lung disease.
3. Optimize the use of imaging in diagnosis and staging of lung malignancies.
4. Outline approaches to radiation dose reduction in CT of the chest.
5. Summarize the role of imaging in the assessment of the pulmonary arteries.
6. Describe technological advances in computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, and positron emission tomography (PET) as they relate to chest disease.
7. Understand the role of imaging in the ICU and postoperative patients.
8. Describe the imaging features of infections in the lung.
