Event Description

The Combined Physics & Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Registry Review Course offers a comprehensive review for those preparing to take the ARDMS RMSK & RMSKS certification exams. Since the content outline for the physician exam was recently changed to include 26% physics, get all of the information you need to pass the exam with a full day of physics review then two days focused on MSK. If you’re a sonographer studying for the exam, it also provides as a great physics refresher. The MSK registry review course is taught by leading experts in the musculoskeletal ultrasound profession and includes interactive lectures, case studies, and mock registry exams using an interactive Audience Response System.

Physics Objectives

  1. Increase the participants’ knowledge to better perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations.
  2. State the elementary principles of ultrasound including definition of ultrasound, basic properties and units of measure.
  3. Describe the fundamental principles of sound and the propagation of sound in soft-tissue.
  4. Cite the different types of transducers, focusing, sound beam formation and the various types of resolution including: axial, lateral, contrast and temporal
  5. Recognize components and terminology of ultrasound equipment and instrumentation.
  6. List the advantages of Doppler, Color Flow and Color Power Imaging.
  7. Differentiate imaging artifacts by their cause and characteristic appearance
  8. Apply statistical test correlation and test validation using CHI Square principles regarding sensitivity, specificity and overall test accuracy.
  9. Outline safety, quality control, quality assurance and bioeffects concerns regarding operation and maintenance of ultrasound equipment.
  10. Identify areas of weakness that require additional self-study to successful pass the ultrasound board examination offered by ARDMS, CCI or ARRT.

MSK Objectives

  1. Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret MSK ultrasound examinations.
  2. Outline appropriate transducer selection, system optimization, and identify commonly seen artifacts associated with MSK ultrasound.
  3. State scanning protocols for performing shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, knee, ankle, foot and hip ultrasound examinations.
  4. Identify normal anatomy during musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging.
  5. Recognize ultrasound characteristics of commonly seen pathology of the shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist hand, ankle, foot, and hip.
  6. Outline the use of MSK sonography for diagnosis and treatment options, including ultrasound-guided interventions.
  7. Integrate all patient and imaging data for effective analysis of examination results.
  8. 8Identify areas of that may require further study
  9. 9Increase knowledge and competence for successful registry examination completion
