MEETING DESCRIPTION:
This two-day program is designed for the healthcare professional using ultrasound to provide enhancement to the obstetrical examination. This course will provide a valuable combination of lecture, demonstration and in-house scan lab experience with live models. Content presented will include an introduction to ultrasound physics, instrumentation, and pelvic anatomy (both normal and abnormal). Time will be dedicated to both transabdominal and endovaginal scanning techniques and basic fetal and amniotic fluid measurements. Provided in our onsite scan lab will be a diverse selection of ultrasound equipment to be used under the guidance of course faculty.

Objectives
At the completion of the course, the learner will be able to:
• Utilize the principles of instrumentation to prepare ultrasound equipment for the examination.
• Recognize normal and abnormal pelvic anatomy.
• Identify the difference in techniques related to transabdominal and transvaginal pelvic scanning techniques.
• Identify basic fetal anatomy and biophysical profile.
• Identify basic fetal anomalies and their ultrasound appearance.
• Apply appropriate measurement techniques in transabdominal and endovaginal scanning.
