Event Description

At the completion of this program, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics/instrumentation to describe imaging artifacts.
  2. Explain the operation of the ultrasound system controls and appropriate transducer selection for different applications.
  3. Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation and system optimization to produce diagnostic images
  4. Perform ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (F.A.S.T. exam).
  5. Perform the scan protocols for focused evaluation of the abdomen (including aorta), female pelvis and adult heart.
  6. Differentiate normal/abnormal image characteristics of the abdomen (including aorta), female pelvis, first trimester OB, ectopic pregnancy and adult heart.
  7. Demonstrate the use of ultrasound guidance for vascular access.
  8. Perform a transabdominal GYN ultrasound examination.
  9. Describe image orientation, transducer preparation, scan protocols for performing an endovaginal ultrasound exam.
  10. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret emergency ultrasound examinations.
