MEETING DESCRIPTION:
AIMS OF THE WORKSHOP

* To guide development of a clinical image-guided ablation service.
* To inform practice and appropriate case selection, setting image-guided ablation in the context of other treatments in particular for hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic colorectal cancer in the liver.
* To familiarise delegates with currently available ablation equipment from a range of manufacturers so as to obtain optimal results in the clinical setting.
* To understand the current limitations of image-guidance and learn new techniques and manoeuvres to enhance the outcomes and applicability of image-guided ablation.
* To describe imaging assessment of ablation and appropriate follow-up procedures.

Workshop spaces will be limited and presentations will encourage interaction so as to enhance the lessons learnt. The faculty is drawn from radiologists, surgeons and oncologists with an extensive experience in the limitations and potential of image-guided ablation. Information and practical skills will be provided in several formats:

Interactive presentations concerning development of practice and state-of-the-art IGA setting the techniques in the context of other interventions and therapies.
Practical demonstrations of ablation equipment and image-guidance techniques by manufacturers and leading users.
Video case discussions.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

* To enhance an abdominal image-guided ablation practice both in terms of scope and improved clinical outcomes.
* To equip delegates with an improved understanding of ablation equipment and technique.
* To set image-guided ablation in an appropriate context alongside other interventions.
* To understand the limitations and potential for abdominal image-guided ablation given current developments in the field.
