Event Description

Computed Tomography Imaging is an integral part of high complexity imaging in Radiology. You can be ready to start an exciting new phase of your career through training for this modality. Understanding the principles, theory and console skills is necessary for decision making, patient care, and independent judgment. You can learn the sectional anatomy, computer operations, imaging protocols, and physics from the experts. Practical applications and clinical rotations are key ingredients to completing your training. You can choose the right combination of events to match your educational needs. Week one of the training covers principles and practice. Weeks two and three are clinical rotations. Invest in your future and advance your career. This three-week modular course is designed to introduce the technologist to computerized tomography principles and practice. Classroom instruction will include history and development of CT, basic physics, instrumentation, technique and protocols, positioning, sectional anatomy, Venipuncture, oral and IV contrast, safety considerations, and non-routine studies. Clinical training will provide the fellowship technologist with 40 hours per week of observation and hands-on instruction in local hospital settings. The clinical experience is designed to enhance and reinforce the principles studied during the week of theory.

Course Topics
Week 1 - Theory (total 32 hours)
4 hours - History and Instrumentation
8 Hours - Basic Physics and Principles
8 Hours - Protocols and Contrast Media
8 Hours - Sectional Anatomy, Image Correlation
4 hours - Non-routine Studies and Review
CE Credit 32 Hours

Weeks 2, 3 - Clinical Rotation
Technologists enrolling in clinical rotations are required to complete the theory portion of the fellowship course prior to being allowed to attend clinical rotations. 40 hours of clinical rotations (Monday-Friday) each week will give each fellowship technologist the opportunity to experience a wide array of exams, be tutored by experienced CT professionals who provide insights, advice, and help you get the most out of your training. 80 hours total.
Certificate of completion rewarded will reflect clinical hours completed.
** No CE is awarded for clinical hours
