Description:
New for 2012! Our new combined short course Introduction and Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasound allows you the flexibility to pick and choose the training options that work best for you and your busy schedule. Maximize your time away from the workplace by enrolling for the combined course option to efficiently and effectively acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform ultrasound procedures in an emergency setting. The focus of the first three days of the course is the presentation of the basic ultrasound tools and techniques needed to perform ultrasound in an emergency setting. You will acquire the skills to perform focused evaluation of the abdomen, ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (FAST) procedure, 1st trimester pregnancy evaluation and cardiac ultrasound. The last two days of the course will build on the momentum you gained with the performance of the basic ultrasound procedures and move into expanded applications of bedside ultrasound. The power and size of the new portable ultrasound equipment now allows for advanced cardiac evaluation and pulmonary applications. You will learn advance cardiac scanning techniques, skills for DVT’s evaluation, ultrasound guided procedures and vascular access, soft tissue ultrasound evaluation and new applications.
Lecture is followed each day by a faculty supervised hands on ultrasound scan lab. The Interactive scan lab with live models and small groups allow each participant ample opportunity to gain the knowledge and skill needed to independently perform a basic abdominal ultrasound procedure.
