Overview

THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO JULY 18-22, 2011 (NEXT SUMMER) DUE TO THE RECENT VOLCANIC ACTIVITY AND POTENTIAL RISKS. This 4 half-day course is tailored to the general or subspecialist radiologist or clinicians with an interest in imaging. It will serve as a review of relevant General Radiology topics in a case-based interactive format. It has been designed to prepare the participant to better understand current imaging of the musculoskeletal system, the brain and spinal cord, the abdomen and pelvis and the heart and lungs. The primary focus will be to provide information that will be helpful in your daily practice.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:
-list key imaging features of diseases affecting the ankle, knee, pelvis and hip, shoulder and wrist
-select the ideal imaging techniques for imaging musculoskeletal infections
-provide a useful imaging assessment of the brain, neck and spine
-select the ideal imaging techniques for the diagnosis and management of acute neurovascular emergencies
-describe a broad range of diagnostically challenging pathologies occurring in the abdomen and pelvis including common look-alikes
-provide a differential diagnosis of lesions in the mediastinum and pleura
-describe a useful approach to the differential diagnosis of the solitary lung nodule, pulmonary infection and diffuse lung disease
-understand the usefulness of CT and MR imaging of the heart

Accreditation

The University of Ottawa's Office of Continuing Medical Education is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME) to provide accredited CME activities for family physicians and specialists. This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada for up to 16 credits. Through an agreement with the U.S. Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, it is also accredited for 16 hours of Category 1 credits towards the Physicians' Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.(AMA).

Technologists Credit
The sponsor will be submitting a request to the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) for credit approval for all sessions related to technologists

Registration Fees
Registration fees are $950 CAD for the entire 4 day-meeting and $550 CAD for residents, fellows, techs, and physicians residing outside of North America. Iceland radiologists are encouraged to register at the discounted rate. You will realize a large discount ($150) if you sign up for the entire 4-day meeting.

Cancellation Terms

The University of Ottawa reserves the right to cancel courses. Registrants will be notified at the earliest possible date in the event of a cancellation. The University of Ottawa will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that such cancellations may cause.

For registrants wishing to cancel their enrollment, written notification of cancellation must be reciebed 30 or more days prior to the start (subject to a $50 cancellation fee; $25 for daily registrants).
