Event Description

Radiology
NYU Clinical Imaging Symposium in Aruba
Monday - Friday
Jan 3, 2011 - Jan 7, 2011

Course Description

There are many recent technological advances in imaging techniques which can be applied in current clinical practice. Maintenance of certification requires continued review of essential imaging techniques in all areas of radiology, including body imaging, PET/CT, musculoskeletal imaging and cardiac imaging. This course is designed to demonstrate a practical approach to image interpretation. The lectures are intended to reinforce how imaging data and clinical findings can be used together to narrow a differential diagnosis and aid in patient care. The course will present topics on MRI of the elbow, hip and spine, liver lesions, coronary CTA, MDCT, PET/CT, pancreatic imaging and trauma imaging.

Educational Objectives

Discuss the use of CT as the primary technique for the evaluation of abdominal pain, as well as the expanding role of US and MRI.

Based on concern with regard to cardiac CT imaging protocols and radiation dose, describe measures to reduce radiation dose while retaining diagnostic image quality.

Create strategies to incorporate the latest imaging techniques and protocols for MR Imaging of the hip, elbow and spine, as well as soft tissue tumors

Based on evolving technology, describe the advancing utilization of PET/CT in diagnosis, initial and subsequent treatment of malignancies.

Using the latest MDCT scanning techniques, efficiently evaluate the multiply injured trauma patient, including the pregnant patient, thereby providing better pre-surgical and post-operative patient care.
