MEETING DESCRIPTION:
This course has been designed for radiologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists and breast surgeons interested in integrating newer breast imaging technologies such as breast MRI, digital mammography, computer-aided diagnosis, and digital breast tomosynthesis into their practice.
Lectures will focus on practical clinical implementation, indications, interpretation, approach to image-guided biopsy and future developments. In addition, substantial time has been allotted for multiple case review sessions. It is anticipated that at the end of the course, physicians will be able to implement an advanced digital mammography or breast MRI program or improve an existing advanced digital mammography or breast MRI program at their centers
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Implement effective techniques to perform breast MRI examinations in their institutions
- Interpret breast MRI examinations
- Perform MRI- guided biopsies
- Develop local guidelines for appropriate indications for breast MRI studies in their practice environment.
- Use standards developed by the ACR Lexicon Committee in their breast MRI practice
- Apply 3-D computer visualization and computer-aided diagnostic techniques to breast MRI and mammography
- Develop approaches to digital mammography image acquisition and interpretation
- Explain digital breast tomosynthesis technology and technique
- Interpret breast tomosynthesis examinations.
The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ [Breakdown: 11.25 Breast MR credits; 6.5 Digital Mammo credits; 3.5 Breast Ultrasound credits].
