Objectives & Topics
At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
1. State the indications and applications for performing an ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
2. Identify ultrasound anatomy of the fetal heart and cardiac physiology.
3. Demonstrate a routine protocol for an ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
4. List standard 2D documentation included in a routine ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
5. Describe commonly seen pathology of the fetal heart.
6. Perform Fetal Doppler Assessment of Fetal Heart & Fetal Doppler evaluation of umbilical cord, ductus venosus and MCA as indicated.
7. Describe placenta variants & discuss placenta abnormalities, predictions, precautions and treatment options.
8. Explain the ultrasound findings with Head & Neural Tube defects, Abdominal Wall defects and Skeletal Dysplasias.
9. Increase knowledge and confidence to perform and/or interpret an ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
10. Perform a fetal heart screening under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.

• 3D Evaluation of Fetal Heart
• Genetic Screening (1st & 2nd Trimester)
• Placental Variants and the Umbilical Cord (including cord Doppler/MCA)
• Placenta Abnormalities: (including Placenta Previa, Accreta/ Increta and Percreta)
• Neural Tube Defects
• Abdominal anomalies
• Skeletal Dysplasias
• Monochorionic Twins and Twin Transfusion Syndrome
• Complex Case Studies
• Hands-on training sessions
Target Audience
Sonographers and other medical professionals with at least 3 months experience performing OB-GYN ultrasound examinations; Physicians with at least 3 months experience interpreting/performing OB-GYN exams. Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) those involved with: OB-GYN, endocrinologists involved in performing GYN examinations, family practice, and emergency medicine. Nurse practitioners and midwives may also attend.
