At the completion of the program the participant should be able to:
- Identify ultrasound anatomy of the fetal heart and integrate it with cardiac physiology.
- Demonstrate a routine protocol for an ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
- List standard 2D documentation included in a routine ultrasound evaluation of the fetal heart.
- Describe commonly seen pathology of the fetal heart.
- Perform fetal Doppler assessment of the fetal heart.
- Discuss Doppler assessment of the fetal umbilical cord and middle cerebral artery.
- Discuss genetic screening during the 1st and 2nd trimester fetal evaluation.
- Describe placenta variants & discuss placenta abnormalities, predictions, precautions & treatment options.
- Recognize the ultrasound findings with central nervous system abnormalities, abdominal wall defects and skeletal dysplasias.
- Explain how the monochorionic placenta can affect identical twins resulting in twin transfusion syndrome and the role of ultrasound in detecting and managing this condition.
- Increase knowledge & confidence to perform/interpret OB & fetal heart U/S evaluations.
