Objectives & Topics
At the completion of this program, the participant should be able to:
1. Explain the use of MSK sonography for diagnosis and ultrasound-guided interventions for rheumatology, sports medicine, and physical medicine and rehabilitation applications.
2. Describe techniques and protocols for performing shoulder, elbow, wrist/hand, knee, ankle and foot U/S exams and hernia evaluation (hot topic!).
3. Identify sonographic appearance of commonly seen pathology of the shoulder, knee, elbow, wrist, hand, ankle and foot.
4. Discuss the indications and findings for musculoskeletal hip and spine sonography.
5. Perform injection and aspiration techniques and discuss potential future applications (hot topics!).
6. HOT! Review musculoskeletal ultrasound case studies in interactive interpretation session format.
7. Increase the participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret MSK ultrasound exams.
8. Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, ideally under supervised conditions until an acceptable level of proficiency has been achieved.

Target Audience
Any physician, sonographer, PA or other medical professional who will be involved in diagnostic MSK ultrasound evaluations. Participants may include (but are not limited to) physicians and sonographers working in rheumatology, sports medicine, podiatry, athletic training, orthopedics, emergency medicine, radiology, internal medicine, and family practice. PA’s may also attend. Participants should have a minimum of 6 months MSK scanning experience before attending course.
