MEETING DESCRIPTION:
Radiation therapy has become progressively more complex as our ability to accurately define treatment volumes has improved, calculation techniques for treatment planning in three dimensions has improved and treatment delivery capabilities have become more sophisticated. Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) and image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) combine all these improvements to allow higher treatment doses to more irregular tumor volumes with the promise to improve patient outcomes.
This course will address the implementation of these technologies to the treatment of multiple disease sites. Emphasis will be placed on the clinical and technical dosimetry issues for a successful IMRT program. Related technologies, such as TomoTherapy and CyberKnife, will be covered in brief to update the attendee on these tools. The attendee is expected to know the basics of 3D conformal planning and plan evaluation as taught in the MTMI.

This course provides 24 continuing medical education credits for Certified Medical Dosimetrists recognized by the MDCB and 24 hours of Category A credits for Radiologic Technologists recognized by the ARRT. A certificate of attendance will be provided for each individual upon completion of the course. All attendees must attend the entire course to receive full credit.
