MEETING DESCRIPTION:
NCBC is the bi-annual conference that ACR provides as an educational service in the field of breast imaging, including breast cancer screening and treatment.

Objectives:
After the course, attendees will be to:

* Identify the appropriate imaging modalities for screening women at high risk for developing breast cancer, and ways to apply these modalities to reduce risk. [Pre- and post-activity questions could be variations of this wording.]
* Illustrate the basic and more advanced principles of breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) interpretation and lesion evaluation, and the pathologic correlations to breast MRI lesions.
* Describe the technical and display advances in breast MRI, including 3T magnets and more sophisticated CAD applications.
* Report on the status of digital mammography, including image optimization, interconnectivity issues with PACS and RIS systems, workstation design and adaptations to digital mammography, and newer digital techniques such as tomosynthesis and CAD.
* Relate the latest information regarding emerging breast imaging technology.
* Interpret the new role of breast imagers as clinicians, and learn about the new responsibilities they assume with that role.
* Evaluate the current status of MQSA regulations, and government plans such as pay-for-performance for reimbursing breast imaging services.
* Describe the progress of the Centers of Excellence program, and other ways to develop Best Practices standards within their own practice settings.
* Report on their participation in case-based education through the deployment of electronic audience response techniques.
