MEETING DESCRIPTION:
ABOUT THIS MEETING

This second annual symposium will present a comprehensive series of lectures focused on developing and honing attendees' leadership skills and optimizing the structure and function of their practices. Faculty will focus on issues that group leaders and their business executives face on a daily basis and will provide practical solutions and suggested actions that they can incorporate into their practices with minimal effort.

The faculty, chosen for their teaching ability as well as their expertise, will discuss such pertinent issues as strategic planning, productivity concerns, reimbursement management strategies, service and quality methodologies, the start-up and success of new ventures, merger considerations, throughput optimization, marketing, contracting, negotiations, recruiting, leadership development, and other practice-related topics. With new knowledge on these topics, attendees will be able to immediately implement solutions to strengthen their practice and improve their leadership.

The comprehensive course syllabus will provide substantial take-home information that registrants can use as a resource for improving the structure and the operations of their practices. The course is highly interactive, allowing extensive access to the faculty. By using the audience response system to provide immediate feedback, registrants will be able to participate in the popular socioeconomic data project, comparing their radiology group with those of the other attendees. The course provides practical, actionable information that will allow participants to adapt to the challenges radiology faces in 2010. The faculty is comprised of nationally recognized teachers who have implemented these skills in their own practices and in many others across the country.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is intended for radiologists with leadership positions in their practices and for those who seek the skills to become practice leaders. The information is valuable for those in private practice, group practice, and academics, and for senior radiology business executives, particularly those involved with the operations, management, growth, marketing, and infrastructure development of their practices.

For maximum impact, groups should consider having both radiologists and business executives attend together for more efficient implementation of course information within their practices.

EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES

Attendees should, at the completion of this course, be able to:

Describe the impact of healthcare reform on the specialty of radiology
Discuss the duty of the radiologist in communicating results of radiologic examinations to referring physicians
Optimize patient care through the application of service principles
Implement appropriate policies to deal with the problematic partner/associate
Apply macroeconomic principles to improve your radiology practice
Develop strategies to cope with turf issues
Evaluate the changing relationship of radiologists to their hospitals
