Technology Auction Benefits Children's Health Fund Winning B

Technology Auction Benefits Children's Health Fund Winning Bid of $285,000 to Help Underserved Children In a bid to help underserved children, the Children's Health Fund (CHF) held an online auction of the Ysio Digital Radiology System, donated by Siemens. Bidding for the state-of-the-art machine started at $99,999 and jumped to a quarter million dollars in the first ten days.

The winning bid was made by John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson NY, resulting in a $285,309.00 donation to the CHF. The Ysio is a flexible system that allows for x-rays to be taken through the use of a wireless detector and can handle obese and elderly patients. The machine can fit into nearly all hospital radiology environments and will soon be installed in the X-Ray Department of the winner.

Co-founded by singer/songwriter Paul Simon and Dr. Irwin Redlener, the Children's Health Fund's programs provide urgently needed healthcare to underprivileged children in America's urban and rural settings. The CHF began in New York City with one medical mobile unit and now has 38 mobile medical units and 6 fixed-site clinics in 22 programs around the United States.

*Editor's note: Acceptance of the proceeds of this auction does not constitute an endorsement of the Ysio by the Children's Health Fund.
