RSNA 2008: For Small Breast Lesions, Positron Emission Mammography Accuracy Bests MRI

CHICAGO, Dec. 2 -- For women with dense breasts, positron emission mammography may be a better screening option than MRI, researchers here reported.

In a study of 208 women with confirmed breast cancer who had both positron emission mammography and MRI, the two were equivalent in detecting malignancies, the researchers reported at the Radiological Society of North America meeting.
