CHICAGO, Dec. 1 -- Brachytherapy for women who develop breast cancer after breast augmentation surgery and a new look at the way the brain of an autistic child processes sound highlight this exclusive MedPage Today roundtable discussion at the Radiological Society of North America meeting.
Joseph Tashjian, M.D., president of St. Paul Radiology, in St. Paul Minnesota, discussed brachytherapy in women with breast implants who develop breast cancer, noting it's an especially effective option because it takes only five days.
But both Dr. Tashjian and Philip O. Alderson, M.D., dean of the School of Medicine at Saint Louis University, agreed that more data were needed.
More data are also needed, they agreed, to assess the true utility of magnetoencephalography to measure the severity of autism, although early results reported at RSNA were promising.
Peggy Peck, MedPage Today executive editor, moderated the discussion.
