The Role of Imaging and Radiology in Medical Travel
Medical imaging is a
wide field involving all medical modalities designed to diagnose,
confirm pathologies, and follow up certain diseases. As radiology is
involved in the medical process, its role in medical travel should be
explained for the benefit of patients and supporting physicians.
Typically once a patient reaches the desired location for treatment, the diagnosis is
often re-confirmed through radiological imaging. Further radiological
examination might be required according to the primary diagnosis (i.e.,
interventional biopsy for neoplastic process or multi-planer imaging for
pre-operative assessment).

created images. Teleradiology has shared a role in enabling “crossing
the globe” consultations of radiological images for the sake of improved
patient outcomes.
