Nuance Communications recently introduced the Nuance AI Marketplace, an open platform that utilizes AI algorithms, deep learning tools, and cloud systems to help radiologists spend less time on bureaucratic processes and focus more on direct-patient services, like consultation and diagnosis.
According to a press release, 70 percent of U.S.-based radiologists use Nuance’s PowerScribe and PowerShare, a radiology reporting and image sharing system. Through utilizing the PowerShare Network, the AI Marketplace allows users to streamline image data organization on a variety of devices with an expansive set of algorithms. The system gives radiologists the tools to create, modify, and publish imaging algorithms, thus empowering them to accelerate their workflow and dedicate more time and energy towards their patients.
The Nuance AI Marketplace was unveiled at the most recent Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) conference in Chicago. Although the product is new, a number of prominent healthcare and academic organization have demonstrated their support for the platform, including, the American College of Radiology, Lunit, Radlogics, Aidence, Teracon, and Ohio State University.
The American College of Radiology’s (ACR) Data Science Institute will spearhead the initiative to integrate AI framework into radiology and develop standards for algorithm use and reporting. “We need the industry to support the standards and processes that the ACR DSI promotes,” said ACR executive vice president and chief information officer Mike Tilkin. “This will allow seamless integration of AI technology into the day-to-day radiology workflow. We congratulate Nuance for their early adoption of the ACR DSI standards in building their new Imaging AI Marketplace.”
