Advancements in technology have drastically shifted the workflow in healthcare. SOMATOM, a tomography scanner from Siemens that just received FDA clearance promises to make the scanning process more efficient and succinct.
SOMATOM go.Now is a 32-slice scanner and SOMATOM go.UP provides a 64-slice configuration. The go.Now model is ideal for physicians who are starting up a new CT department, and the go.Up features a wide detector with faster scanning and “tin filtration”, which is well-suited for lung imaging. It also uses less radiation than most CT scanners.
Both models provide automated and streamlined workflow systems. The tablet system allows practitioners to easily process examinations, and provide scans with just a few clicks. Since most tasks can be directed through the tablet, practitioners no longer need to go back and forth between the scanner and control room. The technologists are able to stay with patients during scan preparation, relieving the nerves, and make for an overall better experience. The platform also offers online training and resources for spare parts.
The SOMATOM go. was developed after immense consideration and research. Siemens Healthineers interviewed over 500 radiologists, technologists, and radiology administrators across the world to collect insight on how to develop a system that will facilitate versatile and reliable patient care.
