Failing to diagnose lung cancer ranks second only to overlooking breast cancer as a cause of litigation among radiologists in the U.S. Lung cancer may be missed on either chest radiography or CT. Whereas most malpractice cases involve lesions overlooked on the former, a small but presumably increasing proportion are related to chest CT.
