Mednax Scoops Up Another Radiology Practice

Mednax has been on an acquisition spree lately, and its latest conquest is Jefferson Radiology and Jefferson Imaging Associates of Hartford, Connecticut. Back in September, Mednax, the Florida-based multi-specialty healthcare solutions company, acquired Radiology Associates of South Florida (RASF). Jefferson Radiology is the eighth physician group practice to join Mednax in 2017. The purchase of Jefferson Radiology was a cash transaction.

With 60 physicians and 10 outpatient centers in Hartford county, Jefferson Radiology is the largest independent radiology practice in Connecticut. They also operate radiology services in seven hospitals including Hartford Hospital, Griffin Hospital, Day Kimball Healthcare, Baystate Noble Hospital, Windham Hospital, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and Holyoke Medical Center. Since 1963, they’ve been providing specialized radiology services, including: pediatric imaging, neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, and interventional and vascular radiology.

According to a press release, once the merger is finalized, Mednax radiologists will be evaluating 9 million studies every year. Jefferson Radiology CEO Ethan Foxman, M.D., Ph.D, is excited about how the acquisition will impact the radiology field. “It was a natural fit to partner with MEDNAX whose platform will support the total radiology value chain in ways previously unimaginable by even the most developed regional radiology practices like Jefferson Radiology,” he said.
