Mednax Acquires Radiology Associates of South Florida

Mednax, a South Florida-based consortium of healthcare services, has recently acquired Radiology Associates of South Florida (RASF).

Based in Miami, RASF has been providing diagnostic and interventional radiology and vascular surgery services for Baptist Health South Florida’s eight hospitals. Since 1960, they have conducted around 1 million studies per year.

"I am excited at the opportunities we face with RASF, particularly given this group’s long standing leadership position in radiology and its partnership with Baptist Health South Florida,” said Mednax CEO Dr. Roger Medel in a press release. "Moreover, we continue to believe that the combination of on-site physician excellence and world-class technological capabilities will enable us to deliver on our vision of becoming the recognized leader in radiology services.”

Specifics of the acquisition have yet to be released; however, the deal was paid in cash. RASF is Mednax’s seventh physician group purchase in just 2017.

RASF’s versatile group of 70 physicians run the gamut of specialties including body imaging, onco-radiology, nuclear medicine, ultrasonography, pediatric radiology, neuroradiology, breast imaging, emergency radiology, vascular surgery, and interventional and neuro-interventional radiology. Ricardo C. Cury, MD, CEO of RASF, is also the director of cardiac imaging at Baptist Hospital of Miami and Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute.
