Dr. Gary Cohen Becomes Temple’s New Chair of Radiology

Gary Cohen, MD, has been named Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s new Chair of Radiology and Radiologist-in-Chief for Temple University Health System (TUHS). Since July 1, he had been serving as interim leader in both of these positions.

This isn’t Dr. Cohen first major appointment at Temple. Since he joined the faculty in 1993, he has served as the Co-Director of the Liver Tumor Treatment Program, Vice Chair of Diagnostic Imaging, and Section Chief of Vascular & Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Cohen sub-specializes in vascular and interventional radiology. In the last two years, he has established a collaboration with GE Healthcare as a way to “promote value-based radiologic services across the Health System.” He’s highly active in the radiology community, and serves as the Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and is routinely featured in Philadelphia magazine’s Top Doctors list.

“Dr. Cohen’s combination of outstanding skills as an academic physician, leader, researcher and educator makes him a superb choice for his roles as Chair of Radiology and Radiologist-in-Chief,” Larry R. Kaiser, MD, FACS, the Lewis Katz Dean at LKSOM and President and CEO of TUHS said in a press release. “I am confident that his talents will contribute significantly to enhancing the quality and reputation of radiology at Temple Health, advancing research and enriching the opportunities for faculty development and student and resident education.”
