Announcing 3rd Annual ARRS CLINICIAN EDUCATOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Announcing 3rd Annual ARRS CLINICIAN EDUCATOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

“An invaluable course for my professional development” stated one of the 25 graduates from the 2009 Clinician Educator Development Program (CEDP). Designed to help junior faculty develop a career as a clinician educator, this course will be offered again during the 2010 ARRS annual meeting on May 1, 2010 in San Diego. It is specifically tailored to the aspiring radiology educator who is interested in developing the most current and effective teaching skills as well as formulating educational programs that best meet the needs of trainees/learners. The course is “very engaging and interactive” and “affords those selected to have an opportunity to participate in a program available nowhere else” noted several participants. We have designed a program, states Course Director, Angelisa Paladin, MD, that “offers both an adult education foundation, but also represents a model of effective teaching principles and techniques including the latest technology as well as career development strategies.” Interactive workshops are to be presented by leading educators and will cover the following topics: • Designing curriculum and quality images • Interactive techniques and exercises you can use • Using technology and cases to develop competencies • Developing a teaching portfolio • Writing for publication Interested persons must hold an MD, DO or equivalent from an accredited institution, have completed a residency or fellowship in radiology, be Board certified in radiology and have no more than five years of teaching experience post-training. They must be nominated by their program/department chair and complete an application, which indicates their interest and potential for pursuing a teaching career. Those accepted must attend the all-day CEDP program on Saturday and the Item-Writing Workshop and Educational Seminar scheduled for Sunday, May 2nd. Selected nominees will receive a grant that can be applied to their expenses in attending the program. The all-day program offers CME credits and is limited to 25 nominees. For more information and an application, please email Pat Britz at Pbritz@acr-arrs.org or call 1-800-227-5463, extension 5844.
