The physics part has been fairly easy so far. It's covering and adding to information I had already covered in my diagnostic radiology classes. The cross-sectional anatomy is very difficult. Since you aren't seeing the image the way we see it as diagnistic techs, we have to learn about the organs, muscles, etc, in order to determine what is being shown in that "slice". Once I have completed the class and taken the registry, I believe it will be easier to find a position. The hospitals and clinics around here usually cross-train their tech to do CT (and sometimes MRI) in addition to their diagnostic x-ray duties, so I will be one step ahead. I have also heard that eventually techs will have to be registered in order to perform CT exams because the insurance companies will not pay or will pay a lower amount if the tech isn't registered.
