Glomus tympanicum tumor.
Mass is lying in direct apposition to the promontory.
The most common mass in hypotympanum of middle ear cavity.
Syn. paraganglioma, chemodectoma.
Glomus jagulare may erode bone making differential difficult.
Role of 5 for paraganglioma:
5% distant metastasis.
5% active with para-neoplastic syndrome.
Highly vascular. Salt and pepper on T2 WI.
Can be multifocal with other lesions in the body.
