This is Apical Two chambered view of the same patient with takotsubo cardiomyopathy.Note the hinge just in the middle of left ventricle with apical balloning.In animation you will see the hyperkinetic base and hypokinetic apex.The disease is named Takotsubo because takotsubo is the instrument use by Japanese to catch Octopus and the shape of the ventricle typically resembles that instrument.The first case was reported in Japan in 1996.
