Our hospital had a very interesting case of microcolon megacystis hypoperistasis syndrome with megaesophagus.    You can see it @ http;//pediatricimaging.wikispaces.com  Look at our GI gallery

Happy dear Ozi to find you here, there is gas distension of the small bowel and clinically a small amount of meconium is expelled, just the whole content of the microcolon. We did barium enema to find out the diameter of it. With atresia in the ileum close to delivery, colon appears in normal size full of meconium, but with the early atresia, i mean during the first trimester, it is very tiny and we call it microcolon. The narrowest colon means the earlier atresia. Thanks for comment and your appreciation.

Dear dr.rad, could you please give a little bit more description?

Exactly Dr Niknejad, the size of microcolon is in fact characteristic for early establishment of atresia. Thank you for your valuable comment.
