Ramus of mandible clashing into the hard softer tissue.

I would like advise on this case. When bringing the bite together the mandible feels like it is impacting on both sides of the jaw. On the left side I have indicated with a yellow dot where the ramus is hitting and grinding against the hard area of soft tissue in the picture. This is causing bad pain because the jaw tries to splay as the bite closes.
Please can someone confirm or advise on my assessment.
