Dyke-Davidoff-Masson syndrome

31 years old male with seizures. History of treated meningitis since childhood.
Left cerebral hemiatrophy is evident with encephalomalacia and porencephalic cyst.

Dyke-Davidoff-Masson syndrome is cerebral hemiatrophy with homolateral hypertrophy of the skull and sinuses – resulting in facial asymmetry – and elevation of the sphenoid wing and petrous ridge, in association with contralateral hemiplegia, seizures, mental retardation, difficulty and impairment of speech development. Both sexes affected; present from birth. The condition is now believed to be caused by a vascular insult, more specifically an intrauterine or perinatal carotid artery infarction.
