Baastrup Syndrome

Named after Christian Ingerslev Baastrup, a Danish radiologist, Baastrup syndrome results from adjacent spinous processes in the lumbar spine rubbing against each other and resulting in pain. This can result is a degenerative hypertrophy of the tips, inflammatory change, and even a pseudarthrosis. This condition is usually seen in patients with excessive lordosis of the lumbar spine.
